New $501 million solar and storage systems project
An Australian renewable energy investor Lyon Group has undertaken new utility scale solar and storage market services tender to cover 640MWh of storage across three major projects in Victoria, South Australia and Queensland.
The tender is aimed at various sector participants like electricity retailers and generators, heavy electricity users. As part of it is also a US$501 million Victoria project that has a potential to be one of the biggest hybrid solar and storage systems in the world along with Lyon’s own Riverland Solar Storage project.
A recent Finkel report regarding Australia’s future electricity market emphasized on large-scale battery storage and its vital role in the energy transition.
At present, Lyon Group’s Australian project pipeline includes around 1,700MW of large-scale solar and 1,000MW of large-scale battery storage.
