Terna’s CEO At The 5th Forum: “We Invest 1 Billion Euros In Energy Storage”
Terna, one of the largest transmission companies in the world, presented at the 5th Forum in Rome in June 2012. Instead of waiting Terna decided to make an investment in energy storage “now” which is probably the first in the world in terms of its investment size. In recent years, over 12MW of solar panels have been installed in Italy which is causing reverse power flow across substations and congestion in the network. To mitigate these issues TERNA made an announcement at the 5th Forum planning to invest close to €1 billion over the next five years to install distributed storage. The first phase will be of 130 MW and the second of 110 MW. Subscribe to our newsletter or visit our industry news section in the future for a more detailed update on TERNA’s presentation.
