ABB And Samsung Collaborate To Develop Microgrids Globally

Power and automation technology group ABB and manufacturer of Li-ion batteries Samsung SDI have established an alliance to develop microgrids around the world.

These microgrids will be modular and scalable, and rely on Li-ion batteries for energy storage. The joint collaboration between two global industry leaders in grid technology and Li-ion battery technology will enable accelerated growth of the market.

ABB will provide technologies for electrification, control optimization, stabilization and expert consulting services. Samsung SDI will provide the batteries and the battery management system. The alliance will further strengthen ABB’s and Samsung’s ability to supply advanced solutions to the global microgrid market.

This alliance also means microgrid solutions are set to become a viable alternative to bring electricity to remote, rural areas and emerging markets while also offering power reliability, resiliency and security to developed markets.

If you want to know more about this and other topics directly from end users of energy storage technologies join us at one of these annual events: The Energy Storage World Forum (Grid Scale Applications), or The Residential Energy Storage Forum, or one of our Training Courses.
