California Splashes Out $1.7 Million on Military Microgrid
A microgrid demonstration project at Camp Pendleton in San Diego will benefit from $1.7 million of research funding, courtesy of the California Energy Commission. The initiative will showcase microgrids for military applications at the Marine Corps Base. Renewable energy resources within the existing utility grid will be employed in the design of the microgrids.
In addition, the system will feature on-site flat-plate and concentrating photovoltaic technology together with other energy efficiency and energy storage capabilities to deliver dependable power and reinforce vital base functions.
