New Energy Storage Company Launched

Blue Planet Energy Systems LLC is a new energy storage company launched by Hawaiian entrepreneur Henk Rogers, (the creator of Tetris), in a partnership with Sony Electronics Inc.

The ‘Blue Ion’ system is their self-contained energy storage module running on lithium ion battery technology supplied by Sony, which can last for 20 years and does not require cooling. It also runs on Blue Planet Energy’s proprietary software and architecture.

The batteries will store solar energy for nighttime usage, such that private citizens can have a 24/7 sustainable supply of energy on their own property. The company aims to enable homeowners to make themselves entirely independent of the grid.

Blue Ion will be available to customers for residential and commercial use staring on the 1^st of August this year.
