Energy Storage Moves Into Telecom Stations and Micro-grids

Hot on the trail of the recent Navigant Research report that off-grid mobile telecoms stations will expand rapidly within the next decade, Australia’s Redflow has announced it will design and manufacture a flow battery storage sytem for off-grid and micro-grid purposes in Asia-Pacific. Its expertise in zinc-bromide flow batteries will be complemented by Emerson Network Power Australia’s experience in power and electronics.

The modular and scalable energy storage technology will first be tested in the telecommunications network market. Redflow believes its batteries, in the main composed of plastic, will lend itself well to the tough and rough conditions often found in off-grid places.
