U.S. To Get Six More Solar Plants
California and Arizona will soon have six new solar plants. The plants are expected to be operational by early 2014. Together, they will generate 160MW of electricity, enough to power approximately 17,000 American homes.
The plants have been funded by Google; this is one of the biggest investments by the company to date – $80 million. Currently, 20% of the search engine giant’s electricity needs are met by its solar facilities, but it is committed to turning 100% renewable energy-driven.
