Solar-backed Battery Storage Paired with Wireless Technology

A German solar company is attempting to create and occupy a niche market by commercialising its wireless-enabled lithium-ion battery system. The solar-battery storage setup is not new, but the integration of wireless technology into the home power system expands the possibilities of energy storage systems. The PROSOL system comes with solar panels, a bank of lithium-ion iron phosphate batteries, an inverter that can convert AC to/ from DC, a battery management system and a control panel that communicates with appliances hooked up to a Z-Wave network.

Through a mobile application, 3 home appliances can be monitored and controlled. Plans are afoot to broaden the management system to include heating and lighting systems.
