UK Energy Storage Market Predicted to Swell
The need to keep up electricity supply during peak demand will drive the expansion of the distributed energy storage market in the UK, Moixa Technology believes. Balancing the supply and demand of electricity is one of the classic problems faced by utility companies, a problem that energy storage promises to solve.
Only recently, the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change invited applications for a £17m grant aimed at furnishing homes with energy storage systems. One of the submissions employs a technology called Maslow DC, which is a meter attached storage system that helps lower peak demand and shave figures off energy bills by transferring DC loads. It is thought that with the continuing increase in DC demand, Maslow DC can make a strong business case for energy storage systems and pave the way for greater commercial adoption of grid-scale battery systems.
