Andreas Tirez received the degree of Master in Electrotechnical Engineering in 2000 and a Master in Economics in 2007, both from the University of Leuven (KULeuven), Belgium. In 2006, he joined the Belgian federal regulatory body for electricity and gas (CREG), within the department of the technical functioning of the electricity and gas market. His work focused on electricity interconnection capacity and monitoring of wholesale power trading. In 2013, he became the Director of this department and joined the Board of Directors of CREG.
