Daniel Eghbal is the Manager Future Network Strategy at Energy Queensland and Senior Adjunct Research Fellow at The University of Queensland. Daniel holds PhD in Electrical Engineering and 17 years of industry and academic experience in power system analysis, distribution network planning, demand response, leading research projects and supervising post and undergraduate students in Australia and overseas. Since 2012, Daniel has been working at Energex on distribution network planning with a focus on the impacts of emerging technologies on the network. In his current role, Daniel leads a team that develops future network strategies to set direction and priorities for Energy Queensland networks. This includes identifying and prioritising the key capabilities to operate the future grid with high penetration of Distributed Energy Resources (DER).
Prior to joining Energex, Daniel was with The University of Queensland where his research was focused on the feasibility of connecting large-scale renewables (geothermal power) to Queensland transmission network.
Daniel is a Fellow Member of Engineers Australia, Senior member of IEEE and Vice-chair of IEEE Australia Council.
