Biography
Robert O’Rourke joined the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU, Ireland) in 2006 and is currently the Manager for Electricity Networks. In this role he is responsible for the regulation of the network companies in Ireland and renewable integration. Ireland is currently redesigning its ancillary services market and introducing new technologies to accommodate ambitious renewable targets. Before that, he has worked in several areas of energy regulation including gas, markets, and renewable policy. In addition, he has participated in regulatory assistance programmes in several markets, including Cyprus, Azerbaijan and Vietnam, on a range of regulatory issues, such as market design and TSO unbundling. He holds a masters degree in Economics from University College Dublin.
