New Vanadium Redox Battery Project Started In Europe – Energy Storage World Forum

Vanadium Redox flow batteries might just be the next storage technology to watch.

Prudent Energy is already starting its Vanadium Redox Battery Energy Storage System (VRB-ESS) project in a small Northwest European town, most likely in Germany.

The aim of the VRB-ESS is to not only reduce reliance on the grid, but to complement it, and so far, Prudent Energy has reported some positive findings.

According to the company, the VRB-ESS is also able to scale its storage and power levels independently using an electronic control system.

Vanadium is a promising resource, given that it is widely available in the ground, and can be easily recovered from ash produced during the steel manufacturing process.
