Subsidized Storage Needed To Meet Germany’s Renewables Target
Some worry that as Germany moves towards a total of 33 gigawatts of solar power, the grid might behave more unpredictably. Energy storage then, should be Germany’s superhero.
Germany’s Federal Environment Ministry has a reported grant fund of $65 million, and is due to be launched and the terms introduced on 1 May. The funding is for energy storage systems that will be used with distributed solar installations, given that Germany would have installed a further 775 megawatts of solar in the first quarter of 2013.
