Yet Another World’s Largest Battery Storage Facility Coming Up
This time, it’s Japan’s second largest island, Hokkaido, to make the headlines.
Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) plans to dip into its 2012 budget of US$299.5 million for battery projects to build the world’s largest battery at an electrical substation.
METI statistics currently show that Hokkaido has the country’s highest installed capacity compared to the other 47 prefectures, largely due to availability and low cost of land.
