UK’s Latest Salvo Against Intermittency – Energy Storage World Forum

The United Kingdom appears to be caught up in a research frenzy at the moment – with the University of Liverpool the latest beneficiary of the government’s enthusiasm for energy storage technologies. The academic institution has been bestowed with £3.3 million to build a number of facilities for research into high-tech electrochemical energy storage devices. The aim is to use these laboratories as testbeds for advanced energy storage solutions targeted at utility-scale applications.

The university will join hands with its partner, the University of Manchester, to run an interdisciplinary center of energy storage research that will explore how batteries and supercapacitors can be integrated into the grid.
