Microgrid Expert To Assist Minnesota On CHP-Related Efforts

Recognizing the value of a combined heat and power system (CHP) in terms of energy security, efficiency, and environmental preservation, Minnesota like other US states has been actively pursuing CHP-related endeavors.

About three months ago, Minnesota has invited potential providers to submit their requests for proposal in line with its need for a CHP stakeholder conference facilitator and survey specialist. Inputs from these experts will be used to draw up specific action plans that will help boost CHP system use within the state.

From a host of providers, the state’s Department of Commerce has recently handpicked Microgrid Institute to deliver these requirements.

Microgrid’s expertise lies in dealing with and analyzing developmental issues that have great impact on microgrids and distributed energy.

As a facilitator for Minnesota’s CHP stakeholder conferences, its role is to conduct surveys, study and analyze survey results, and submit relevant recommendations to the state. Aside from these, the firm will also provide a database of stakeholder records and a blueprint for CHP training.

According to the firm’s Director, Mr. Michael Burr, Minnesota will certainly benefit from the stakeholders engagement as this will help the state identify issues and set up priorities where CHP system advancement is concerned.
