Toshiba To Install Hydropower Equipment For Myanmar – Energy Storage World Forum

Toshiba Hydro Power (Hangzhou) Co. Ltd (THPC), a Chinese subsidiary will supply 4 units of 77 MW hydro turbine and generator for Myanmar Electric Power Enterprise’s Upper Yeywa hydropower plant.

The project will commence in March 2016 and will be constructed northeast of Mandalay. This is the second commission from Myanmar following a previous contract for a hydraulic turbine for the 28.4 MW Sedawgyi hydroelectric power plant more than 20 years ago.

Hydroelectricity currently accounts for the majority of Myanmar’s power supply at 75%, and there are plans to build even more power plants to meet the country’s growing energy needs.

Toshiba has supplied over 2000 hydro power generators, with over 56,000 MW generating capacity worldwide.
