BYD Wants To Double Energy Storage Sales In 2015 – Energy Storage World Forum

Chinese carmaker BYD Co. has plans to double deliveries of energy-storage products this year on the back of increasing global demand.

In 2014, the company delivered energy storage units with capacity of 57MWh, a figure enough to power industrial parks. These units range in size, from residential to industrial scale units, delivering to domestic markets as well as those in US, Germany, Japan and Australia.

It also completed a ferrous-battery energy storage station in Shenzhen last year, with enough capacity to allow an industrial park to manage and adjust its power needs.

The company has announced its wishes to compete with Tesla in consumer-focused power storage. Tesla caused a storm in the energy storage industry when CEO Elon Musk alluded to a “new Tesla product line” to be launched on April 30 that many experts believe will be a residential energy storage system.
