36 MW Of Battery Storage In Texas, Largest In The World
36 megawatts of battery storage in Texas will now be able to store enough energy to power 10,000 homes.
The storage facility is connected to a 153 megawatt wind farm. Called Notrees Wind Farm and Battery Facility, which is owned by Duke Energy, just added the batteries along with a $22 million matching grant from the US Department of Energy.
A report released by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) states that wind and solar will be more cost-competitive than natural gas over the next two decades.
