DECC To Introduce Energy Storage Subsidies
The UK Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) is set to introduce subsidies to support energy storage in the coming months.
DECC officials say that the government wants to create a ‘market mechanism’ to help firms become more competitive.
Ian Ellerington, Head of Innovation Delivery at DECC, stated that the Department recognises the importance of electricity storage in the long term. Therefore, through the innovation programme at DECC, a scheme of grants hoped to be formally announced in September this year, will go towards the support of electricity storage.
