Utility Alternative Energy’s Microgrid Project – Energy Storage World Forum

According to Utility Alternative Energy Solutions group, the microgrid project which aims to capture wind and solar power from Kitty Hawk, should be set up and start working by December.

Dominion North Carolina Power’s three-year research project was launched with plans to delve into renewable energy. Its plans for the project include four wind turbines, a ground-mounted solar panel and a battery storage system.

“Energy harnessed at the site would be used at the district office to reduce the amount of power it pulls from the grid”, said the group’s project manager, Sarah Cosby. The utility would also use the experimental system to gather data on renewable energy and its uses in the future.
