Colombia To Acquire Hydrogen Technology

French company McPhy and  the Spanish Ecowill Engineering Group are partnering to build a hydrogen storage technology in Colombia.

Using electricity produced by wind or solar sources, hydrogen will produced from electrolysis of water, then solidified and stored in magnesium discs as magnesium hydride.

McPhy and Ecowill aim to use this technology in remote areas in addition to existing energy systems. Such communities usually rely on wind and solar only, and this new hydrogen technology will be able to fill the gap that intermittent renewable sources leave behind.
