GLOBAL CLEAN ENERGY TRANSITION IS INEVITABLE

A new report on renewable energy by Clean Energy Canada, titled “The Transition Takes Hold”, expects that by 2025 generation costs for large-scale solar power plants will fall by 57%. Millions of people worldwide are working in the sector and around 1 in every 50 new jobs in the US has been created by the solar industry. So, it looks like the transition to green power is irreversible.

In countries like China and India, two of the major electricity markets, renewable energy provides a solution for their huge pollution problems.

In the US, the renewable energy sector experienced a fall in total investment in 2016 as opposed to 2015, but since the cost of green power has lowered the electricity capacity remained almost unchanged. According to Merran Smith, executive director of Clean Energy Canada, there is a business opportunity for Canada to sell renewable energy to the rest of the world. In fact there are many companies eager to sell their solutions and help other countries with the clean energy transition.

The UK National Energy Grid – A Story of Islands, Trading, and Energy Storage

As first seen in Energy Global, grid software acts as a modern-day map, helping to chart and navigate today’s energy grids; software engineers are tasked with carefully delineating how each region’s energy markets operate. However, looking more closely at energy markets makes clear how unique each market is – each defined by different topography, resources,…
