Community Energy Storage Project Started In Slough, UK
S&C Electric Company has collaborated with Scottish and Southern Energy Power Distribution to start a Community Energy Storage project with the aim of achieving ‘Zero Carbon Homes’ in Slough, UK. This is part of the UK’s efforts to achieve 15% renewables by 2020.
The pilot will consist of 3 25 kWh lithium-ion batteries connected to the homes to stabilise electricity supply. According to S&C, the CES will also help to integrate electricity from renewable sources (solar in this case), and provide a reliable backup power for its community.
