Massive Solar Farm To Come Up In Massachusetts
A massive solar photovoltaic farm of 4.1-MW capacity has been launched in Sandwich, Massachusetts, will help the state reach its goal of developing 400 MW of solar photovoltaic power. The project will require an investment of $9.7 million USD and is a collaboration between Green States Energy and S&C Electric Company.
This project is entitled to receive the Solar Renewable Energy Certificate (SRECs) units issued through the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER). Massachusetts was among the first states to adopt a renewable energy portfolio standard (RPS), which requires distribution utilities and competitive suppliers to obtain a percentage of their electricity from qualifying units.
