Six renewable energy projects receive $1.5 million dollar fund from Alberta Innovates-Energy and Environment Solutions. – Energy Storage World Forum

Alberta Innovates-Energy and Environment Solutions (AI-EES) announced a $1.5 million dollar fund for six proposed energy storage projects. These were projects selected from an international competition with over 50 proposals, deemed to have the most potential for implementation in Alberta’s power grid.

Each of the 6 projects will receive $250 000 for their development. These include projects such as “Distributed Lithium-Ion storage for Demand Charge Reduction” by Eguana Technologies and “Redox Flow Battery Innovation for Large Scale Electrical Energy Storage” by the University of Calgary, amongst others.

AI-EES has funded these projects with the hopes that they will encourage the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and simultaneously accelerate the implementation of renewable energy. Dr.Mark Summers, Director of Renewable Energy in AL-EES aims to have renewable energy contributing 20% of the total electrical production by 2030.
