China Focuses Heavily On University Research On Storage
The difference between the Chinese and Western approach on energy storage is stark; the Chinese believe in university research, while Western dogma advocates the democratic approach involving entrepreneurs and independent research in small companies.
The figures back this up: 15 percent of Asia’s network of storage technology comes from universities, in contrast with 2 and 4 percent in Europe and the Americas respectively. On the other hand, start-ups account for 9 and 11 percent in Europe’s and the America’s networks, while the number is 6 percent in Asia.
In fact, university research is powering more innovations in Asia such that some established American companies are relocating their production to China. The Chinese research way is also driving product innovation in companies like Prudent Energy and Rongke Power.
